Taiko Extreme Linear Power Supply

The Taiko Extreme Linear Power Supply is a 12V linear power supply designed for the Taiko Extreme Router and Switch. It can power either component individually or both simultaneously, with filtered* and unfiltered outputs sharing a single power rail with a maximum combined output current of 1.5A.

The Extreme LPS may also be used with other compatible components, provided their voltage, polarity, connector, and current requirements fall within the supply’s specifications.

Its purpose is not simply to provide clean DC power, but to improve the electrical environment in which the system operates.

‍

A power supply can influence more than the component connected directly to its output. Ground, reference, and noise interactions can carry its effects into the wider system, and the Extreme LPS was designed with those relationships in mind.

‍

Its filtering approach adapts to the noise actually present in the system. Taiko combines this with a deliberately low component count and carefully selected high-quality parts, including components manufactured to Taiko’s own specifications.

Every component in a power supply can leave its own fingerprint. Additional filtering may reduce noise, but it can also alter the character of the sound. The challenge is therefore not simply to add more filtration, but to apply it in a way that preserves the energy, flow, and expression of the music.

The Extreme LPS is designed to provide predictable performance across a wide range of installations without overdamping the sound or imposing a strong power-supply character.

* As a starting point, it is expected the filtered output to be most beneficial when used to power the device directly connected to your server.

** The operating limit is determined by power dissipation and the chassis’s cooling capacity. If the current limit is exceeded, the output voltage drops rather than maintaining 12 V.
